| Gold Coast 22nd to 29th Sept 2007 : 90% Australian University Games 10% vacation 50% extreme happiness, 50% extreme sadness. a lot of unprecedented, and learnt a lot of how to be a human being. a lot of crazy acts, and learnt that i can let go and have fun. a lot of good companies, and learnt more about my friends. a lot of new friends, and learnt a lot from them about table tennis. a lot of old rivals, and learnt how it feels to find a worthy opponents, and how to appreiate each other's strategical and technical specialty. a lot of shoppings, and learnt how much girls love to shop, and learnt that there's intellegence in their shopping. a lot of food, and learnt that the quality of food is not the whole picture, the company and the atmosphere, especially the personal mood, is the dominating factor. a lot of games, and learnt that my physical endurance has once again dropped by an unexpected amount, and that i cannot sustain a 5-day tournament without a 1 week rest before the match. | | |

Amazing, Stunning, Brilliant and Splendid. Words aren't enough to describe what she's achieved and what effort she and her mother has put in. God bless them, and thank them, and thank God, for this beautiful piece of human life. It is so touching, more touching than that little girl who recently sang in American Idol. infinity times better. It is especially touching when she plays the tune of "I did it my way", makes you think of all those tough times, and all those struggles, effort, and courage involved. | | |
| copied from 方卓如's blog . ps. i am not honour to know 方卓如 in person, however i do find the passages intellectually stimulating. pps. if in case you're notified/reading and disapprove my "borrowing of words" please let me know and i shall remove it. 入到書展的感覺，自然是人迫。不過，擠迫的不單只書展，還有政治舞台。
肥彭再到香港，為其水尾的新書簽名，力求清貨。碰巧銷售稅諮詢出籠，引發與財爺隔空開火。開火前幾日，兩位阿太分別另起爐灶，言語間又經記者傳話，互相單打。遇着兵荒馬亂，特首唯有走入書展講故仔。
這兩場隔空戰役，高下立見。
財爺見肥彭重申當年反對開徵銷售稅，一心想用連消帶打，將回歸後七年的經濟衰退歸咎於肥彭管治時的揮霍，集推卸罪名、推銷新稅、推說反駁之三推於一身。原本這是一記高明的回答，卻被肥彭輕輕一句帶過：「Well，當年的財政司，就是你現在的老細曾特首。」財爺開炮殺得性起，想不到有如台灣漢光演習，一枝違反經濟規律的導彈，誤落在禮賓府之後花園。肥彭口舌上勝了一仗之餘，還要進一步拿一個尾彩：「推銷售稅，需要極高政治技巧。」意思是，我這級數的高手都未有硬闖，輪到你？
另一場，同樣高下立見。葉太成立智庫，陳太成立小組。表面上好像智庫比小組厲害，實則相反。
葉太的智庫似高級學生會，毋須多講。但是智庫這鬼佬進口貨在香港是票房毒藥，由坊間各個半紅不黑的先例已經正正說明；加上葉太首炮還先講經濟避談政治，煞有介事講知識產權交易中心這鹹魚貨，氣勢上有點兒反高潮。還是多做幾轉《葉劉博客》，跟田北俊爭說話講，預演一場立法會競選辯論，兼夾攞Fareed Zakaria那本《The Future of Freedom》出來，抽其中一句，與田少對質。市民喜歡刺激的對話，多於無謂的研究。
相比之下，陳太較為聰明。小組比智庫更具彈性，可以平日飲杯咖啡聊聊天，都是小組討論，毋須籌款。再者，小組專攻一個議題，就是普選，這題目保證未來十年長期有曝光率。換言之，陳太小本買入窩輪，波幅驚人；而葉太重手購入滙控，有排未見成績。
政治交鋒，波譎雲詭。大熱天時，最夠清涼解暑。 香港其實一直都有銷售稅，只不過是集中在奢侈品上，例如汽車煙酒。樓宇房屋一樣有銷售稅，以地價為名稱，向各位預先間接抽稅。現在所講的銷售稅，只不過往下伸延，向日用品進攻。
理性討論銷售稅已經多至令人發悶，就讓我從感性出發。
最強烈反對銷售稅的理由，是我們信不過這個政府。幾年前，檢討稅基的那份顧問報告，用OECD國家作比較，反映香港太倚重收入利得稅以及房屋銷售稅，瓣數太少。但是顧問只睇表面，沒有提及OECD的先進國家都有民選政府，假如政府倒行逆施，總有文明方法對付。
但香港沒有這個福分，一旦將另一個搖控器交給政府，到時添馬艦總部內的財政司司長，左手一個薪俸稅搖控，右手一副銷售稅搖控，愈撳愈興奮，將吸力扭至最大，司長這份工即時變成優差，毫無煩惱。
量入為出是要紀律，但睇餸食飯就是中國人自幼庭訓。銷售稅一開，政府日日斬料加餸，只會變成時刻開會動腦筋，度橋如何用盡手上的「畢直」。到時政府的改革大動作，包保日日出籠。
要記住，政府問責官員是單身上陣，而且是仕途頂點。其他國家有政黨血脈九代單傳，假如這屆政府揮霍無度，會連累同黨後輩下屆失利，所以是內外受到制衡。香港政府是鋪鋪清，今屆玩完，下屆全新人馬由頭來過，與上一手沒有血緣關係。換言之，上屆亂使錢，不會影響下屆；而新一屆上場，又會要錢大展拳腳。久而久之，政府開支愈使愈大。
不是說政府開支將會控制在GDP 20％以下嗎？銷售稅一出，GDP這個大餅，便會水漲船高，到時政府開支又可以加碼，這一招最毒。
